Deadly heatwave in Japan : Be aware of Heat Stroke

Deadly heatwave reached 40C in Japan, and over 57,000 people have been treated in hospital for the past 3 months since the end of April. It is an extremely hot summer and tourists must be aware of heatstroke!

How to prevent Heat Stroke?

  • keep hydrated + sodium balance
  • wear light-coloured, loose clothing
  • sprinkle water over skin or clothes
  • avoid prolonged exposure to hot temperatures
  • avoid excess alcohol

Symptoms of Heat Stroke

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Flushed Skin
  • Muscle cramping

If you have these symptoms, move to a cool place, drink a lot of water/hydrating drink, cool your skin with water/cold pack.
