The JP Yen temporarily fell to 151 per dollar, the weakest level in almost 32 years, since August 1990. The US long-term interest rate rose widened US-Japan interest rate gap and strengthening the dollar/yen selling.
The value of the Yen has halved in 11 years compared with 75.32 yen to the dollar in 2011, when the yen was at its strongest.
Say, McD’s BigMac set meal, costing 710yen in Japan, is now converted to US$4.7 only, and beef bowl (Yoshinoya’s standard menu) is even cheaper at US$2.98! It’s time to plan your budget holiday in Japan!
